Currently the max image file size that can be uploaded per image is 3 megabytes or 3,000 kilobytes. Although Sellercore allows these large images, in reality this is still extremely high for online image use. A 3 MB image is a print quality image taken by digital cameras and offers a pixel rate well beyond what can actually be viewed on a user screen. A typical online image is best served at 100 KB or less for an item image. That’s 1/30 of a 3 MB image and in the same respect will load 30 times faster.
Sellercore includes options to reduce and compress large image file sizes while uploading however your best quality images are going to be taken online use in mind. If you know you are only using the image for online use, dial your camera settings back and safe a lot of headaches. Smaller file size images load much faster and take up far less server disk space.
Decent quality photo editing software such as Photoshop and Gimp (free) offer options to save images optimized for web use.
